Jodie and Pete are ace! I've known Jodie for a long time, but I only met Pete a few months back at their pre-wedding practice shoot and he is a scream! Together they are a fun loving, down to earth couple who are a pleasure to be around and I was honoured to be a part of their wedding day. It was exactly how I thought it would be too, full of laughter and real emotion with a sprinkle of madness...just how I like it! Even though the weather didn't really play ball everybody still managed to have a wonderful time and we even used it to our advantage for a couple of artistic wedding portraits.
As I was shooting solo, I joined Pete and the guys for an hour before heading to Jodie and the girls. Both camps seem relatively nerve free, although Jodie did have one or two "I'm going!" moments which were followed by the standard head back and waft technique to prevent any major flow of tears. Once the girls were ready we set off to Church, the lovely St George's Church in Mossley, which actually has quite a lot of personal memories for me as my primary school is adjoined to it and it was a rather large part of my upbringing. Going back there as an adult and a photographer allowed me to finally appreciate the stunning details and granduar of this building and it was the perfect setting for Jodie & Pete's ceremony, which conducted by one of Jodie's work colleagues.
After the ceremony we had time for a few quick and drizzly portraits before heading to the golf club. The rain had really started to come down so everybody had jumped straight inside to stay dry. As soon as we got a break we managed to head outside, disrupt the golfers and grab some group shots with all Jodie & Pete's guests. Speeches came next with a brilliant and highly comical delivery from Pete stealing the show. Then once the evening guests arrived the night entertainment got underway in the shape of a Bavarian Oompah band that played party games (you had to be there)! It was so Jodie and Pete I don't think any other form of entertainment would have worked. We managed to brave the rain again for a couple more wet weather portraits before the party steamed into the the early hours.
Below is a slideshow of highlights from Jodie and Pete's day. It's set to "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran which Jodie walked down the aisle too and their first dance track, the amazing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", by Andy Williams .
