On Sunday I drove 5 hours to the lovely town of Bathgate, near Edinburgh with my wife Kerrie and our daughter Darcie to be a part of a truly special wedding. Alex and Matt, very close friends of ours, tied the knot at The Vu, Bathgate, on Monday 31st July 2017. They asked me last year if I would be their wedding photographer and of course I said yes. What they also asked is if Kerrie could be Maid of Honour and Darcie could be their flower girl. For me personally this made this wedding even more special as we were all together as a family with lots of our close friends. It was such a beautiful day and Alex and Matt had thought of lots of lovely little details to make everything tie together. We had some classic Scottish weather which comprised of glorious sunshine, almost biblical showers and immense wind, but non of that halted proceedings for even a minute and we were rewarded with a stunning rainbow of this lovely venue (see below).
As it was quite a distance I shot this wedding on my own. I did however still have the ever amazing Brad along for the ride with his assistant Em as they were filming the entire day for Matt and Alex. Be sure to check Bailey Wedding Films soon for what will no doubt be an amazing video! However being on my own meant I got to join both Matt and the guys very early in the morning and then Alex and the girls for their preparations. It's always great seeing both sides and passing on little messages from groom to bride. Once the girls were all set, we then set off to the venue (only slightly late) and spent the rest of the day there with all Alex and Matt's close friends and family. It really was a magical day and I am honoured to say I was a part of it.
Below is a slideshow of some of the highlights from their day set to two songs. The first is I Choose you by Ryann Darling which Alex walked down the aisle too and the second is Perfect by Ed Sheeran, which was Alex and Matt's first dance.
What a cracker eh? As the images pass a little quickly, I've posted them all below. If you happen to save any images please be sure to retain the "Martyn Hand Photography" logo when sharing.
What an amazing day. Thank you for allowing me and the girls to be such a special part of it!
