On Sunday I joined Steph and Lee for their wedding at Hollins Hall in Baildon.
The day started out rather early and damp and I was a little apprehensive about the forecast. When I arrived to meet Steph and her girls it really was kicking it down with rain and my thoughts may have been along the lines of “on no…!” However when I walked into the suite where they were all getting ready everything seemed relatively calm. The Prosecco was flowing nicely, everybody seemed relaxed and I have to admit it was all a pleasant surprise. The rain pretty much stopped just as Steph looked out the window and 5 minutes later the sun began to beam…. if that’s not a sign then I don’t know what is! We were on for a belter of a day!
Rebecca & Krystina, Steph’s sisters and bridesmaids, did all the girls hair and makeup and managed to keep Steph in her calm state all morning, pretty much right up until we got a knock on the door to say there was only 15 minutes until the wedding! The serene and tranquil mood that had filled the room for the few hours previous suddenly changed to one of nervousness, excitement and quite a bit of panic as Steph was yet to finish having her hair done and get into her dress! The girls did a grand job of getting Steph ready but the clock kept ticking.
Meanwhile downstairs Lee, his groomsmen and all their guests were sat patiently waiting in the ceremony room for Steph to make her entrance. When I went downstairs Lee did ask me if Steph was ok. I told him not to worry, she would be with him soon.
At 25 minutes late, Steph may actually have the record for my latest bride this year. However when she came downstairs and walked into that room, it was pretty clear to see by the look on everyones faces that it was was worth the wait!! Steph and her girls looked stunning!
After a lovely ceremony which included an emotional reading by Steph’s son Jake, we headed outside for some drinks and pictures on the front lawn. I managed to grab 15 minutes with Steph and Lee to get some stunning portraits in the scenic grounds before heading inside for food and speeches. After a full chicken roast and plenty of laughs we hit the night time celebrations hosted by the amazing Dean from Go Go Disco. First up was an emotional Father and Daughter dance before before Ken gave Steph’s hand over to Lee and they had their first dance. It really was a bit special.
Before the night finished we managed to grab a couple of epic wedding portraits outside on the lawn, in the dark with the whole of Hollins Hall lit up. It was pitch black and rather damp again but both Steph and Lee trusted me and I think it’s safe to say we nailed it!!
Below is a slideshow of the highlights from their day. I’ve set it to Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” which Steph walked down the aisle too, and an absolute classic that Steph and Lee had as their first dance, Fleetwood Mac’s “Need your love so bad”.
